Helen GauthierHelen Gauthier (nee Butzen), 89, born in Chicago, to the late Joseph and Anna Marie Butzen on October 23, 1934. She passed away peacefully at home on July 25, 2024. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Jack, in 2022. We are eternally grateful for the loving care provided by Tess Bacani.Helen grew up in the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago, where she attended St. Michael's Elementary and High School. She continued her education at Mundelein College receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Language Pathology. She later was a proud student of the first graduating class from Northwestern University to receive her Master's degree in her field of study. She had a successful 35-year career serving children in the Chicago Public Schools and was a mentor to several therapists new to the field.Helen was a devoted member of the Jugendchor and the German American Singers of Chicago for 76 years.
